2010 (June) new common core standards were released for WI to view
2011-2012 (school year) Ms. Hedges taught awareness classes about the changes in math instruction
2011-2012 (school year) Groups of MTSD teachers took CCLM which is a year long class through UWM
taught by Ms. Hedges to learn about the new math practices and standards.
2011-2012 (school year) Groups of teachers started to infuse math modeling of tape diagrams into the
classroom.
2012 (summer) Groups of MTSD teachers took a week long class called the WSMI which focused on
learning about one of the main clusters in the common core standards
2012 -2013 (school year) The focus of math modeling using tape diagrams continues to be emphasized
2012-2013 (school year) A focus on ratio and proportional relationships and linear equations through the
use of tape diagrams, tables, and algebraic reasoning for the 8th grade Foundations &
Pre-algebra curriculum.
2012-2013 (school year) A focus group of math teachers met 4 times throughout the year to plan Response
To Intervention (RTI) for the 2013-2014 school year.

2014-2015(school year) Foundations and Pre-Algebra classes using the Common Core State Standards to teach math classes. Materials from Engage NewYork will be used to help supplement lessons.
2015 (Spring) New State Test Called the Badger Test will take the place of the old WKCE and will incorporate the new standards.
